Advocate's Compass · Coming 2027
Know what to say when it matters most.
Speaking up for yourself isn't always easy, especially with a doctor, a landlord, a boss, or a room full of professionals making decisions about your life. Advocate's Compass helps you learn the skills, find the words, and walk in prepared.
Who it's for
People with disabilities, people navigating services and systems, caregivers and family members, and anyone who has left a meeting thinking, "I wish I'd said that."
What you can do
- Learn at your own pace. Short lessons on knowing your rights, communicating clearly, and preparing for the conversations that matter.
- Practice real situations. Work through common scenarios so you feel ready when they happen.
- Find the words with Advocate Now. Describe your situation, and AI writes a script you can use: what to say, what to ask, and how to follow up. Edit it until it sounds like you.
- Prepare for meetings. Keep track of upcoming meetings and list what you want to say and ask.
- Take notes and follow up. Write down what was decided, who will do what, and what happens next.
- See your progress. Track the lessons you've finished and the skills you've built.
Situations it can help with
- Asking a doctor for a second opinion
- Asking a landlord for a repair
- Requesting an accommodation at work
- Speaking up in a support planning meeting
- Questioning a bill or a denied benefit
- Advocating for your child at school
Why it's different
Advocate's Compass grew out of years of experience in Minnesota human services. We saw how often people needed better tools to plan their own lives and speak up for themselves.
About the AI
Advocate Now uses AI to write scripts. When you ask for one, what you type is sent to our AI service provider to create it. It's never sold or used for ads. Scripts are a starting point. You know your situation best.
Good to know
Advocate's Compass offers general education and practice tools, not legal advice. For legal questions, talk with a lawyer or a legal aid organization.
