About Apps for Change

A Minnesota 501(c)(3) nonprofit driving meaningful change, one app at a time.

Our Mission

Apps for Change creates mobile tools that enable people to reach their goals, advocate for themselves, and care for others in their communities. We develop educational tools, applications, and community-based programs that promote self-advocacy, goal achievement, community engagement, and the reduction of poverty, dependence, and social despair.

Our Philosophy

We operate on a simple principle: structured clarity builds confident action. Technology should increase agency, not dependence. Our apps provide the structure people need to translate intentions into measurable action.

Every feature we build is guided by one question — does this help someone take the next step on their own?

How We Got Here

Our work began as a personal development framework examining eight dimensions of a balanced life: relationships, purpose, physical health, learning, service, environment, emotional well-being, and finances. What started as worksheets grew into digital systems.

Along the way, we saw gaps in Minnesota's disability services sector — individuals needed better self-advocacy support and clearer tools to plan their own lives. We built apps to fill those gaps, and the work expanded from there.
